​Are the Tap shoes mandatory?

No. It is not mandatory to buy tap shoes. However, if you want to progress in this area and to have more efficient in the master classes during the Tap.In.Ist days, we highly recommend having a pair of tap shoes as soon as possible.

Can I buy tap shoes from you?
Unfortunately, we don't sell tap shoes

Can I rent tap shoes from you if you have extra?
Unfortunately, we also don't have tap shoes for rent or lend to.

What kind of a shoe should I bring with me if I don't own tap shoes?
You may bring comfortable shoes, preferably flat footwear with a very hard bottom. Nonetheless, none of these shoes can be a substitute for the tap shoes with metal/wooden bottom.

Do Flamenco dance shoes work fine?

Well, better than nothing.

 

Where can I get a pair of tap shoes?

You may provide from İstanbul or from other cities, or you can order from Bloch.uk company which is famous for 3-days shipping to Istanbul. We also highly recommend ordering from the people who come from out of the country.

Can I just simply nail some harden material, wood or metal pieces under my shoes?
Well, you simply try. But we also tried and failed. Nothing was holding on the rubber

Is there a special thing to wear for the classes?
We suggest you wear things like short/skirt/leggings as long as they are comfortable and leave your knees and ankles out.

I have been doing flamenco or Irish step dance before. Does tap dance different than these kinds of dances?
Tap dance, Flamenco and Irish step dances are distant cousins. Such as Micheal Jackson and Ludwig Van Beethoven.

I have never tap danced before.

Not a problem. The classes of Tap.In.Ist days are prepared for all levels. To re-check the levels of the festival courses, you may visit the page Seviyeler / Levels, And If you are still unsure about your level, you can always contact us via mail.

I have health issues. 

If your health problems are not posing an obstacle to your walking than they will not hold you back from tap dancing eighter. But still, you can send a mail to us about your condition to inform us after consulting your own doctor.

Is there an age limit? 
Absolutely not.  ​

I have never danced before.

Of course, all the activities ensure that certain aspects of the person are strengthened. If you had danced before, maybe could affect your learning / memorizing speed. However, if you have never danced, just sit back and enjoy watching how tap dancing can be easy to learn and dance.  General Classes and Level 1 is Just for you

I don't understand what are subjects meaning and which one is good for me? 
You can read the context of the subjects from the page "program", and always send us an email with your questions.

Can I buy a ticket on the festival day? Do you take Credit Cards?Unfortunately, we do not take credit cards. Only the fees that paid to the bank will be accepted. Due to the limited number of classes in the classroom, you can enter the classes on the day of the Festival, only if there is room in the classrooms.

Can I call my friends to the tap improvisation workshop, Tap Jam Gala and the closing party which will happen in the evenings?

Of course! Actually please do call! Who would not want to see familiar and happy faces around you when you tap?

I am an advanced level tap dancer. What can I learn from the master classes of Tapinist days?

We are sure that the courses at the festival will be especially effective for you. However, If you send us an email or a video about yourself, we can help you better. Even if you are an instructor of tap dancing, you definitely do not want to miss these 3 days of lessons. You must check out the level 4

I come from out of town, do you have a place to stay?

With a limited number, yes! We have a place to sleep (with your sleeping bags) in the studio. You may visit the page Accomodation for more information.

Can my pets come too?

Tap classes, which are made by hitting metal bottom shoes on tap boards constantly, are also disturbing domestic animals as well as neighbors. In this case, we kindly ask you not to bring neither your neighbors nor your domestic animals with you.

Should I bring earplugs?

Absolutely You never know when you are going to need them.

I have never attended an improvisation dance workshops before.

No problem. We have created the Tap Dance Improvisation Workshop on Friday Night just to show you how easy it is and nothing to worry about.
